Cacao, Almond + Fig Bliss Balls

It’s a fact. No one has time anymore and the last thing we’re thinking about is what we’re going to snack on next week… but maybe we should be, after all, that 3pm snack is often the one that derails your afternoon/day/week of healthy eating. In clinic we often recommend these to busy mums, looking for a yummy but deceptively healthy treat for kids. That said, these bliss balls aren't just for kids, they're also perfect for the average person.


The beauty of these little spheres of yumminess is that you can load them with essential fats and protein while giving them a lil’ kick of sweetness from your chosen base (dates, fig, prunes (!)). I always mix mine up so I get a variety of essential minerals. These ones are loaded with potassium, iron, copper, magnesium, essential fats, fibre and protein.


Do yourself a favour, take ten minutes and whizz these up on a Sunday and enjoy them for a whole week. I

promise you everyone in the office will want what you’re having!


Cacao, Almond & Fig Bliss Balls (gluten free, refined sugar free, vegan, paleo)


  • 6 dried figs, quartered (dates and prunes also work wonderfully)

  • 2 heaped tablespoons nut butter (any type)

  • 1 tablespoon cacao butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup almonds

  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

  • 2-3 tablespoons raw cacao powder




Throw all of the ingredients into the blender. Blitz until the mixture comes together when squeezed. Roll into balls. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.


Tip: If the mixture is too dry, gradually add a little more cacao butter. If it’s too wet add in some extra almonds/almond meal/ or chia seeds and blend until you reach the desired consistency.
